The Center for a New American Dream helps Americans consume responsibly to protect the environment, enhance quality of life, and promote social justice. We work with individuals, institutions, communities, and businesses to conserve natural resources, counter the commercialization of our culture, and change the way goods are produced and consumed.
We help people live the American dream, but in a way that ensures a livable planet for current and future generations. Our message isn’t about deprivation. It’s about getting more of what really matters—more time, more nature, more fairness, and more fun.
We are attempting nothing less than a shift of American culture away from an emphasis on unconscious consumption towards a more fulfilling, just, and sustainable way of life. Become a Carbon Conscious Consumer!
Right now, New American Dream is in the midst of its new Carbon Conscious Consumer (C3) campaign. It's a national climate campaign sponsored that challenges individuals to establish climate-friendly daily habits and inspire their friends to do the same. Participants who most creatively and effectively spread the word will win prizes.
