Kyla and Sergio Baby
Celebrant: Kyla Sweet
Event Date: 2008-01-05
A virtual baby shower - how sad we are so far away from many of those who we love at this time. Sergio and I are just hoping for your support and love as we dive into the parenthood pool (and a few reassurances of "come on in, the water is fine" would be nice too). But for those of you who have been asking about more material concerns, here is a few of our favourite things...and keep in mind that second-hand is GREAT! Garage sales, hand-me-downs and Craigslist scores are great places to look.
Our address (in case you need it) is:
1204 N. Elizabeth St
Durham, NC 27701
Thank you so much!

| Baby Sling | My niece seemed to like the Hot Sling - they have neat patterns and are even having a sale right now! Hot Slings | 1 | 2007 | -2006 | |
| Cloth Diapers | We've heard good things about the following kinds: A variety of sizes - and clean and used is just great! |

| Clothing | Do you have some hand-me-downs to share? We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet but all baby clothes are cute...sleepers, onesies, nighties...anything is appreciated. | 20 | 1 | 19 | Give Gift |
| Diaper Service | We've decided to go the cloth diaper route, especially after buying our new washing machine. But we've heard a diaper service can sure help in the early months, with many changes a day. Baby Biz is our local Durham diaper service. |

| Diaper Bag | I know any old bag will do, if you can wipe it down and put lots of stuff in it. But look at this bag! Made in Portland and so very me, especially in red. The Queenbee/Chickpea Stylus Diaper Bag can be found here: Stylus Bag |

| Swing | I've seen the wonder that is the swing with my nieces and nephews and how it can help babies to sleep! The kind with an AC adaptor would be nice (to avoid big ol' batteries) - an example is the Fisher Price Power Plus Swing like this . Bells and whistles and mobiles aren't important... |

| Bouncy Chair | We hear these can save your sanity... |

| Pack n' Play | I'm assuming we'll be able to come visiting one day - and these look like good little items to have. Again, Craigslist and baby good sales always seem to have a lot of these in excellent shape. | 1 | 1 | 0 | |
| Big Kid Stroller | We have the first few months covered with our car seat adaptor frame but though I am not the jogging type, I do hope to do a lot of walking with this baby. Unfortunately, only some of the higher end strollers seem to be built to withstand the rigors of Durham - sidewalks are a rarity here. But again, second-hand seems to be the way to go with these fancy-dancy strollers - many expectant parents seem to stock up before the baby and not use things as often as they thought they would. 3 wheel types with big storage baskets are what we're coveting... Some favourite "jogger style" strollers uncovered during research include: Bubmbleride Indie Mountain Buggy BOB Revolution Phil and Teds There aren't very many baby stores out here in the Triangle so sadly we don't get to try many of these out. But I imagine there are many other excellent types out there...just not in our neck of the woods.
